The chess prodigy Praggnanandhaa, Class 9 student of Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus, has done it again to win the Gold Medal and emerge as The World Youth Chess Champion in the U-18 Open Category held at Mumbai recently. His continuous unflagging efforts, persistence and determination to conquer have once again made the school proud. To celebrate his return with excellence, Velammal has planned a Grand Welcome. As a part of this jubilation, around 5000 students would await to greet and cheer him on 30th October, 2019. A giant human chess board with coins featuring his face mask will be formed as a mark of respect to honour the chess icon. Further, a cake cutting ceremony is organized and a portrait will be presented to celebrate his accomplishments. He will share the success stories of his achievements while interacting with our students. The school has arranged for a DARE to win challenge inviting the best players contest to against him, Pragganandhaa will also engage in playing with our school team to motivate them to emerge as future chess champions.
